The Green Tractor Scheme continues to work with the future of farming
Just before Christmas, our founding member, Agri.Cycle, hosted students from Riseholme College to give them a tour of the operations involved in farm-plastic recycling and further educate them on The Green Tractor Scheme.
The visit was a real success in educating the future of British farming on the importance of recycling their farm plastics. By showing them the operational side of one of our recycling sites, they could witness firsthand the process of used farm plastics being recycled to transform from a waste product to a commodity. Purveyed by the press and other societal dialogues, plastic is a very misunderstood product. It has been long vilified as a scourge of modern society and so it was a great privilege to help correctly inform future farmers on the importance of recycling and exhibiting how plastic can be managed to create a more sustainable future for agriculture.
Our relationship with Riseholme college is hopefully the beginning of something bigger. At Green Tractor, we understand the need to work with the future of UK agriculture to promote the importance of sustainability and impart the knowledge in how and why they should recycle their farm plastics. A cornerstone of enabling agriculture to become more sustainable is not just education present farmers, but also future farming. With that, we hope to work closer with Riseholme, and other agricultural colleges and universities in 2023.
